#100 at a Glance:

  • Quote: The lever that will move people.

  • Podcast: The science of motivation.

  • Article: UAE set to use AI to write laws.

  • Video: World’s Wealthiest Cities Report 2025.

  • Tweet: Adding life to our days.

Quote I’ve been thinking about:

“Self-interest is the lever that will move people. Once you can make them see how you can in some way meet their needs or advance their cause, their resistance to your requests for help will magically fall away.”

Robert Greene

Podcast I listened to:

The Science of Motivation: How to Stay Driven

Short and sharp solo podcast from Rob Dial on the science of motivation.

This was my biggest takeaway:

It is absolutely imperative to get your brain addicted to the process of working towards your goals. That dopaminergic response throughout the journey is essential in reinforcing your positive behaviours as you strive for your ultimate objective.

That is the key to sustained motivation.

Article I read:

UAE set to use AI to write laws in world first

© Christopher Pike/Bloomberg

I read this super fascinating article in the Financial Times earlier this week about the UAE’s plans to introduce law-making powered by artificial intelligence.

Here’s the rundown:

  • The United Arab Emirates is aiming to use AI to help write new legislation and review and amend existing laws across the Gulf State.

  • Other governments are trying to use AI technology to become more efficient, from summarising bills to improving public service delivery, but the UAE is going much further.

  • They have formally announced plans to use AI to actively track how laws affect the country’s population and economy by creating a massive database of federal and local laws, together with public sector data such as court judgements and government services.

  • The AI would regularly suggest updates to legislation by crunching copious amounts of government and legal data.

  • The plans are particularly novel because they include using AI to anticipate legal changes that might be needed.

I’m really looking forward to actively following this space – I think there’s a lot of potential but it has to be cautiously implemented.

I’m especially curious to see how other countries will respond if it is indeed a success, as well as the kinds of opportunities that could open up off the back of this…

Exciting times.

Video I watched:

Forbes’ Drive With A CEO: Mark Bouris

A really cool series from Forbes Australia.

I love these sort of iterations on the more traditional podcast-style format.

Thought-provoking chat as well – always curious to hear Mark’s insights.
