Quick Message From Me:

As some of you may or may not know, later this afternoon I’m heading off to Europe for 4 months.

Spain, Greece, Italy, France, Germany.

It was a big decision to take a pause from the fast-paced life that I’ve been leading since finishing school 3.5 years ago, but when I decided to book the trip, it was a bit of an “if not now, then when?” type of moment.

I’m stoked to say that at this point, with my flight in just a few hours’ time, it really feels like the right decision – and I can’t wait.

Since I’m not planning on keeping up with the volume of content consumption that I’ve become accustomed to over the past 16 months since I started this newsletter, and instead of taking a pause from Five to Thrive altogether, I thought I would use this as an opportunity to take you guys along with me.

Each week (give or take – it is a European summer holiday after all), I’m going to write a short prose-style reflection on the week that’s been.

Funny stories, meaningful experiences, and interesting encounters.

I feel like it’ll be a cool way to change up the content, keep things authentic with what’s really going on in my own life, and also an opportunity to use this space as a pseudo-travel journal in which I will do my best to articulate some of the life lessons that I pick up during this adventure.

Can’t wait to share with you all ❤️

Quote I’ve been thinking about:

“Life happens on the way to your goals, not once you get there.”

Podcast I listened to:

The Game w/ Alex Hormozi – How They Keep You Poor Forever

In this solo episode, Alex Hormozi shares the importance of focusing on doing the basics consistently well in order to grow a business.

He warns against getting distracted by new opportunities, emphasising how putting your eggs into too many baskets is usually a surefire way to miss out on the outcomes you’re looking for.

Concise and clinical.

Listen on Spotify or YouTube.

Deep Dive:

The Micro Education Business Model

Dan Koe is one of the most highly-regarded figures in the ‘digital solopreneur’ space.

He’s a huge advocate for leveraging the internet to monetise knowledge through what he calls the ‘Micro Education Business Model’.

Extremely thought-provoking.

Article I read:

9 Techniques for More Charisma

Came across this awesome article by Polina Pompliano (via Sahil Bloom) where she broke down one of the most mystical yet powerful elements of human sociology: charisma.

I’ve summarised the 9 common techniques used by some of the most charismatic people in the world below (but I highly suggest you read the full article if you have the time):

  1. They set the energy when they walk into the room.

  2. They say people’s names – a lot.

  3. They remember the ‘small talk’ details.

  4. They commit to random acts of kindness.

  5. They know how to tell a compelling story.

  6. They romanticise risk.

  7. They anticipate the joke – and tell it better.

  8. They avoid ‘one-upping’ in conversations.

  9. They are comfortable being their awkward, imperfect self.
