Podcast I listened to:

The Joe Rogan Experience #2045 - Jimmy Carr

Jimmy Carr is a British stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and television host.

This is possibly one of my favourite episodes of the JRE.

Comedy. History. Philosophy. Psychology. Self-development.

Pretty much everything one looks for in a podcast.

What a privilege it is to be able to listen to this type of content.

Listen or Watch on Spotify.

Article I read:

How to Test a Startup Idea

I recently came across this interesting article on how to know if a startup idea is the right one.

Apart from exploring the phases of research and other methods of narrowing down the idea for a business, it prompted me to think about the power of ‘waiting lists’.

Oftentimes, we feel – or at least I feel – that to start a new business, we need to actually launch the thing and have a stab in the dark at making it work in order to verify whether it was ultimately a good idea.

This usually means that the majority of the business ideas that I come up with just sit at the bottom of a never-ending ‘to-do’ list as I’m hesitant to go all in on something based just on a ‘hunch’.

So it can actually be extremely beneficial to test concepts through ‘waiting lists’ that can serve as a way to validate your initial idea.

Through the research that I’ve done, it can work a little something like this:

  1. Come up with an idea for a new business.

  2. Create a basic landing page that allows people to ‘join a waiting list’ which is linked to an email database platform like Beehiiv or Mailchimp to collect and store the email sign-ups.

  3. Promote the idea through various social media channels and drive traffic to your landing page.

  4. See how many sign-ups you get.

  5. Depending on the volume of interest and hype, you’ve now got a list of your first potential customers.

Congratulations, you’ve now got your proof of concept.

Sounds like a no-brainer but it’s actually a very powerful idea.

Think for a second about the following scenario:

  • You’re weighing up multiple business ideas simultaneously and you’re unsure which one to go with.

  • Create landing pages for each of the ideas and promote them through various channels.

  • Whichever idea generates the highest amount of waiting list sign-ups is the one you go for.

Something to think about…

Tool that I’m using:

FounderPal.ai

Awesome AI marketing tool which I discovered the other day.

FounderPal.ai’s suite of AI marketing applications includes:

  • Marketing strategy generator.

  • User persona generator.

  • Business ideas generator.

  • Value proposition generator.

  • Marketing problem solver.

  • Slogan generator.

  • Idea validator.

I’ve been experimenting mostly with the ‘user persona generator’ – very cool.
