Podcast I listened to:

Modern Wisdom #695: Codie Sanchez

Codie Sanchez is an investor, venture capitalist, and CEO.

Being a contrarian is an alluring idea. Having a unique insight into the world, a different viewpoint that helps you grow and make money and become successful. But how do you actually come up with original ideas and avoid always following the crowd?

Expect to learn Codie’s framework for non-conformity, how anger can be a useful tool, what we can learn from Warren Buffet about not optimising too much, why pushing through boredom is a superpower, how speaking the truth even when it hurts can be critically important, Codie's best advice from the billionaires she’s met and much more...

One of the most value-packed episodes of Modern Wisdom that I can remember.

I love Codie’s pragmatic outlook on life and the way she is able to articulate her ideas through such a variety of life experiences.

Hack I came across:

Reword Your Affirmations

Great excerpt from The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks:

“Some of you have been taught to always state your affirmations in the current tense. Here, I’m suggesting that you are in the process. “The process” (the process of manifestation), actually starts when you think about your desire, talk about it, write about it, or when you give it ANY kind of attention, energy, and focus.

So the truth is you ARE in the process.

When you say “I’m in the process of…,” that sentence becomes true and if it’s true for you, it feels good which is a positive vibration.

I’m in the process of…

  • I’m in the process of creating ideal family relationships

  • I’m in the process of enjoying my body more and more

  • I’m in the process of becoming more abundant

  • I’m in the process of growing my business

  • I’m in the process of having ideal health

Now each statement is true for you! When a statement is true for you, it feels good.”

Now, irrespective of one’s thoughts on manifestation and the law of attraction, this is a very powerful idea.

Article I read:

No Rules by Jack Raines

A brilliant article by an incredibly underappreciated writer.

Great reflection on the individuality of career paths and why randomness in our work is not just a good thing – it’s a great thing.

Very cool concept and I can relate completely.

Airplanes are incredible for productivity – why wouldn’t we strive to recreate the productive environment that they create when we are tackling any meaningful task?
