Podcast you should listen to:

Modern Wisdom #619 - Ben Francis

There are 3,194 known billionaires in the world with an average age of 65 years old.

There are only 15 billionaires around the world who are aged 30 or younger.

11 of those 15 have inherited their wealth, and only 4 of them are self-made.

Ben Francis, the founder and CEO of Gymshark, is 1 of those 4.

And he couldn’t care less.

An incredibly fascinating guy who has managed to bootstrap his company from nothing to a multi-billion dollar valuation whilst raising a young family.

This is a must-listen for anyone with aspirations of achieving sustainable, holistic success.

Mental Model:

The Power of Application

I saw an incredible video about the power of application that I wanted to share with you:

“My friend’s dad is a billionaire (with a ‘b’). I was eating dinner at their house and of course, I asked him: What was the main success principle or mindset that took you from being a broke college student to a millionaire, and then to a billionaire?

He replied with a single word: ‘apply’.

Success principles have been the same since the beginning of time. All the podcasts that I listen to, and all the books that I read, are literally the same principles just described differently and using different stories.

He said that the day he stopped looking for new inspiration and began acting on the information he already had was when he started moving forward and making progress.”

That is my focus for 2024: APPLY.

APPLY, APPLY, APPLY.

Framework:

The Rocking Chair Test

The Rocking Chair Test is a simple decision-making framework that asks the following question:

“When I’m 90 years old on my rocking chair, would I be proud of the decision that I am about to make?”

Very simple but profoundly effective if truly implemented.

The next time you face a controversial decision, give it a go.
